The Project

We’re twelve MA Industrial Design students from Central Saint Martins who are co-designing furniture for Chalton Street Market. With a mission to contribute social value to the London community of Somers Town, we've worked with residents and people interested in the area to design market furniture which is supported by an on- and offline service.

Our funding for this project came from a crowdfunding campaign by Somers Town Community Association, of which a portion was dedicated towards improving the atmosphere of Chalton Street Market. The successful campaign stressed the importance of the market as an "intergenerational social and economic hub," which began our exploration into designing for a market of social value.
